Sir John Gielgud


Sir Gielgud lived from 1904 to 2000.  He was broke box office records in his performance of Hamlet on Broadway in 1937.  He has been knighted in 1953.  Soon thereafter he was involved in a scandal when he solicited a man in a public restroom.  There was talk that his career might be ruined, but at his next stage appearance, he received a standing ovation, and never looked back.  He has won an Oscar, Tony, Grammy and Emmy.
