History is only made by the masses of the people (Part 10)...

Black Super Hero History Month

Cyborg

DC Comics' Cyborg first appeared in DC Comics Presents #26 in October 1980.  Victor Stone was the son of a pair of S.T.A.R. Labs scientists.  He was visiting them when an extra-dimensional creature is brought through a portal.  It kills his mother and severely mutilates Victor himself.  His father uses experimental prosthetics of his own design to allow his son to live.  It also gave Victor his powers.  He has enhanced speed, strength, and stamina.  Also, he prosthetics give him many weapons and equipment.

Cyborg was a founding member of the New Teen Titans and served with them for quite some time.  Unfortunately, over time, he has been killed and brought back to life a few times, and had his powers changed and modified.  But the less said about these incidents, the better.

Even more unfortunately, when DC Comics rebooted into the New52 a few years back, Cyborg was made a founding member of the Justice League Of America, in MY opinion simply because they wanted a token black hero to be a founder.  It's truly sad.
