History is only made by the masses of the people (Part 18)...

Black Super Hero History Month

Mister Terrific II

DC Comics' Mr. Terrific II first appeared in Spectre #54 in June 1997.  Michael Holt was a child prodigy.  Before he became a super hero, he already had 14 PhD's, was a self-made millionaire, owned a successful high tech company called Cyberwear, and gold medal winning Olympic athlete.

After the death of his wife and unborn child, he spiraled into depression and contemplated suicide.  He was then visited by The Spectre and was told the story of the first Mister Terrific, Terry Sloan.  Inspired by the story of Sloan, Holt took on the title of Mister Terrific and set out to fight crime.  He joined the Justice Society Of America, eventually rising to be it's chairman.

Mister Terrific was an Olympic level athlete and hand to hand combatant.  He was also very tech saavy" and the self proclaimed third smartest man on Earth.  He was invisible to electronic equipment, and had created small floating orbs called his T-Spheres that aided him in his crime fighting.
