Black Super Hero History Month
Rage
Marvel Comics' Rage first appeared in The Avengers #326 in Nov. 1990. When Elvin Haliday was 13, he was returning from basketball practice when he was exposed to toxic waste. He recovered at his grandmother's house. The chemicals changed him increasing his size, strength, and invulnerability such that he looked like a man in his mid-30s.
After aiding the Avengers in a case, he was made a probationary member. After working with them on several cases, it was revealed that he was in fact just a teenager. He was then told that he could not be an Avenger, but he could be a trainee. Instead, he joined the New Warriors, a team made of younger super-heroes.
Eventually when the New Warriors disbanded, Rage became a reserve Avenger, and although he remained primarily inactive, he did help them on some cases.
Rage had near superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and imperviousness to injury.
