Green Lantern, John Stewart
DC Comics' Green Lantern John Stewart first appeared in Green Lantern #87 in Dec 71/Jan 72. John Stewart was chosen by the Guardians to be a backup Green Lantern for the Green Lantern Hal Jordan. He was made an active Green Lantern and worked both on Earth, on Oa and in other parts of the universe, including stints in the Justice League and, without his ring, as a Darkstar.
John Stewart has a power ring that allows him to fly as well as gives him a level of invulnerability. He can use the ring to create energy constructs of various shapes and sizes.
He has appeared in the Justice League animated series.
