Fuck, said fuck, fuck, said fuck the facts...

(Despite the apparently hostile tone of the title of this post, I am no upset nor angry. I found that line of music, and laughed at it, and it WAS appropriate, so I used it. No anger is implied)

Johnnie Just The Facts [hey, that's how he wrote it. Although I do find it humorous that he complained that I didn't write it as Johnny, and now he's doing with an "-ie" himself, hehehe] comments on my last post:

This scenario has been known for about 15 years. No escape route could ever be developed because the city is below sea level and surrounded by levies. The only real blame that can be cast in recent years is the decrease in funding to FEMA because of increased defense budget and the appointment of the inexperienced brown to director after the last director complained about the cuts. If you're going to blame a president for not making a special effort for this case, start with the first bush and clinton and then move on to W.

Well, Mr. Just The Facts, let's talk a look at a few shall we? I am unaware of FEMA under the first Bush (other than he shut the government down around Christmas one year, causing some financial concerns for my family, cause mom's works for FEMA). I am aware that during CLinton's term, FEMA was fully funded, run by James Lee Witt, who spent his career in Arkansas Emergency Management (not raising Arabian horses or whatever the hell Brown was doing), and could handle emergencies, like Hurricane Andrew who ripped through Florida and Louisiana. There wasn't a four day wait for Federal aid. hell, my mother was sent to Louisiana sooner than that, and all she was doing was processing forms, not rescuing people or fighting fires or what have you.

Yes, New Orleans has levees, said to be able to withstand class 3 hurricanes. I can't speak for funding during the first Bush or CLinton (or Reagan or Carter either for that matter) as I have no stats on funding requests for levee improvements during that time. but I DO know that last year, the Army Corps of Engineers requested somwhere in the neighborhood of $150 million to upgrade the levees and allow them to withstand class 5 hurricanes. And I know that Bushies, in his quest for more money to Iraq and Halliburton, cut that to $20 million. ANd Congress, in their infinitie wisdom went along with it, and not only that, but they approved $231 million for a bridge in Alaska that will reach and island with only one small community on it. The reason? Ted Stevens of Alaska is the ranking member of the transportation committeee and inserted the pork for his constiuents.

Nevertheless, Mr. Facts, all of this isn't the main point I think people were making. I understand there is plenty of blame to go around prior to the storm hitting. Local, State, and federal government didn't do enough to get the people out of New Orleans.

My problem is with the callous disregard the Federal GOvernment had following the hurricane. For Brown to claim, on THURSDAY, after three days of all of us watching the news reports out of New Orleans, for him to claim that FEMA just found out about the people at the convention center THAT morning, is an outright lie. It's a serious break from reality. And for Bushie to soon thereafter applaud Brown by saying, "You're doing a heck of a job, Brownie" is inane. The man is not in touch with reality and niether is the majority of his government.

And the worst part is, we've got three more years of this moron. And impeaching him? How is that any better? God, that would give us President Cheney. well, I mean, that's practically what it IS now, but, you know what I mean.

God help us all.

I predict a riot, I predict a riot...

Bushie claims that no one knew this sort of thing could happen to Katrina. that is a blatant lie. FEMA reports made this know years in advance. And it was reported widely.

if you're interested there is an article on it in National Geographic from last year, which eeriely predicts things almost exactly as they happened.

It is right here.

After reading this, which was based on the report, you'll know people DID know it would happen, and the results thereof. So either the people that SHOULD be reading those reports, are not reading them, or they are ignoring them. Either one of which is unpardonable.

Poor man. See with age, comes many things, including hearing loss. or maybe it's reading comprehension he's lacking. Could need those ole' eyes checked again. At any rate, it was about Swedish fish, not fetish. Although, I'm certain someone somewhere has a Swedish Gummy fetish. Take an educated guess on me...

It seems Uncle Polt greater overestimated the time involved in this training. The trip down is not INTO Baltimore, as I thought, but to a place before we'd reach Baltimore. The whole drive down was one hour. Nothing like I thought it would be. And it seems the instuctors wrapped it up this afternoon at about 3:20 pm, so that's when we got out. And tomorrow, we don't need to be there until 9:00, instead of 8:00, so that's means I wont have to get up until 6:30, unlike today, which was 5:30.

Oh, and there's a story too! (isn't there always?) the alarm went off at 5:20, as planned. I was going to get up shower, and eat breakfast at the house. But, no, I thought I'll go back to sleep for 15 minutes more and catch breakfast at McDonald's drive through. So I reset the alarm and went back to bed to lay down and slowly wake up for 15 minutes. Then i got up, showered, got my stuff together and was out the door at 5:58 am.

I got to McDonalds, drove by the windows to see there was no one inside at the counter, so if the drive through was too long, I'd just go inside. I got around to the ordering maching, or whatever it is, and there was no one there. SO I placed my order. Drove to the first window, paid the girl and got my change. Then I pulled up behind the SUV that was already at the window and I waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited, some more. FINALLY, they handed everything out to the vehicle and off it went. I drove up to the window. She handed me my drink and I waited.

And waited.

And waited.

I mean, it's not like I asked for anything special! It was the Number 4 Combo meal: a sausage biscuit with egg, has brown and a Coke. And I already HAD 1/3 of it. I wasn't asking for soemthing without ketchup, or with extra onions, or some burgers done medium well or anything, I was just wanting a freaking SAUSAGE BISCUIT! Oh, I got to fuming. I mean, what the HELL could possibly take to LONG??? There was a cute guy working there running the registers I could see, about 20, 5'9 maybe, 140, thick black hair, vaguely Greek looking, tight waist, nice bubble ass. yes, that distracted me momentarily (....okay, longer then momentarily, but I digress...), but then I went back to fuming.

Finally, she picks up a bag and walks to window. But she says, "Oh, could you pull up and I'll bring it right out to you." I look at her dumbfounded for a second and then swearing under my breath, I pulled forward.

SO now I was sitting up there a bit, while the TWO vehicles behind me got their food and pulled around me and left. And time was ticking away. Finally, then she walked my food out, she put it in the window and thanked me. Not mention or apology made for made for the delay. ANd had I not already been late, I feel certain I would have said something.

I was at the damn drive through for 11 minutes. 11 MINUTES! Now that may not seem like a long time, but Christ when you're late for something, it's an eternity. And in 11 minues, God, I could have gone inside, ordered my food, ATE it all and probably been back on the road in 11 minutes! I figured I there was no way I was gonna get from the McDonalds in Waynesboro to my workplace in Hagerstown in 15 minutes. And there wasn't. But I made it in 17 minutes! That's a drive that normally takes 35 minutes in 17 minutes. Granted there wasn't a lot of traffic on the roads at that hour, but what helped more I think, was going roughly 90 MPH on I-81. That certainly made up time. And I got there just 2 minutes late. Which, for me, is actually somewhat early.

I can't take American waste...

Two interesting tidbits worth remembering:

"Nine days after the United States was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, President Bush stood before a joint session of Congress and rallied the nation to a new mission. On Thursday, nine days after it became apparent that New Orleans and much of the Gulf Coast had been devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Bush stood in an auditorium across the street from the White House and directed storm victims to a Web site and a toll-free telephone number."

In 2004, when less intense hurricanes threatened Florida, a swing state governed by his brother in an election year, the president was Georgie-on-the-spot. FEMA acted so decisively that it's still under investigation for disbursing more than $30 million of "disaster relief" in Miami/Dade County, 100 miles from the nearest gale force winds-including six claims of "ice and snow damage."

Just something to think about...not only now, but next year at the midterm elections and in 2008 as well.

Where did you go, where were you....

I saw in today's paper, the latest AP-ISIOS Poll. When asked of Americans if they thought the country was one the right track or the wrong track, 65% said they thought it was on the wrong track.

My only question is: where in God's name have the other 35% been? Hiding under a rock? Living in a cave? Eyes glued to Fox News? On Mars? In a coma, perhaps? Perhaps some are too poor to have car, or tv, or cable, or a radio, or buy a newspaper, so they have no idea what's going on in this country. Course, one would think if someone were that poor, they'd already know the track the country was on. I guess for some people they need to lose everything to a hurricane and be left to fend for themselves or die by the Federal Government, or have their job specifically sent overseas, or have thier employer cut thier insuranc benefits, or perhaps they've not driven a car in the last month and had no need to fill the tank. Maybe some people are selfish and self centered enough so that as long as THEY are doing okay, the "country's" on the right track, irregardless of how their fellow citizens are doing.

You can't soothe me with affection...

So, today we had that meeting that I had been dreading dealing with the switching of job duties. I had all my arguments in mind, all the stuff I wanted done and the reasons why. I had all the logic behind the arguments organized and i had practiced the arguments to within an inch of thier lives. I was ready...but still seriously stressed. And then this morning, the meeting was called. My co-worker, my boss and me. While the boss opened this up and talked I was rehearsing everything I wanted to say. And then...THEN, much to my surprise, my boss set everything up the way I wanted. And my co-worker didn't argue, she went right along with it. So I got everything I wanted without having to say a word. I was, frankly, stunned.

So I did all the worrying and stressing for nothing. And since the news of the last few weeks has been....well, less than good is an understatement, I figured I'd post some photos here to calm us, to relax us, to...soothe us, if you will.

Firstly, we have a dog. how calming and relaxing is that, to have your faithful companion beside you, rubbing his head, or scratching his tummy and he, just looking up at you and
smiling, in abject pleasure and contentment?

I love babies. Its a calming influence on me to hold one, inhaling the fresh baby smell, and rock and cuddle with the infant. Well, I don't know about you, but I find the thought of him VERY soothing. This is Rafy. I just imagine him, beside me while I rub his head or scratch his tummy, and he, looking up at me, smiling in abject pleasure and contentment. ....okay, um, we should I suppose just move right along....

How about a beautiful cool, early autumn day, with the sun in the sky, clouds floating past, and you, laying on the grass, watching them pass, and describing what the clouds look like to Rafy who's laying beside you while you rub -

Sorry, got distracted again. Moving on... How about a beautiful sunset? Gleaming oranges, yellows and reds in ribbons across the sky, and the sun sets, dropping a cloud of darkness overhead. Isn't that relaxing?

Or how about the coast, see where verdant green shores meet the sparkling blue seas? Think of the smell of saltwater, perhaps taste some salt on your lips, as you feel the cool ocean breeze blows against you. You can even, if you listen carefully, hear the waves smash and crash over the rocks a little further out, or hear them wash up on the shore. All 5 of your senses are stimulated...without a mention of Rafy...although he could be quite stimulating.

I know, I know...move on...

Now this photo is one of my absolute favorites.

I think this photo is just awesome to lookg at. It puts everything in perspective. No matter how big and huge my problems seem, in the larger scheme of things, my problems just aren't that big of an issue. And that makes me feel better to put it in that perspective, but it also sometimes makes me feel damn insignificant. Nonetheless, I still love this photo.

Polt: It shows that most of my visitors come from the Eastern US...
Lone Primate: Well, not necessarily. :)
Polt: But that means that still only about 84% are from the US.
Lone Primate: Mmmnnn, not necessarily. :)

Hmm, yes, I'm sorry. How silly of me to be so America-centric. I should have said something like "time zone the Eastern US is in" or something like that. not only did I ignore Lone Primate and the rest of that part of Canada, but I ignored a big chunk of Brazil and the Caribbean and a goodly portion of South America. I just figured it was mostly the US, cause that's where I live and where my friends are. But, I'm glad to see you stopping by and commenting, and I'll endeavour to remember it's not the US. (Geez, how could I, of all people, forget about Toronto?)

Next, the Primate writes:
I heard about that yesterday. Passed in both houses in California (fellahs: why bicameral legislatures at the state level?), but I'm hearing by the thinnest of margins, so no hope if Herr Ubergovernor drops the veto bomb. What do the polls in California say? Any idea?

I haven't seen any polls, I have no idea. And I'm glad, cause if not, the Senate would be meaningless, Dennis Hastert would be Prime Minister and a Democratic retake of the Senate would mean nothing. I'd love to say we could retake the House too...but even my glasses aren't THAT rose colored.

You just turn to trash...

Something weird happened this morning. I was waiting out front of hte house for my ride. Nothing unusual there. It was trash day, so there were trash bags and cans out front of our house, as well as neighboring houses, and across the street. Normally, Laura pulls up across the street, and I go down the last few steps, cross the street and enter her SUV.

Well, this morning, a car, light blue, maybe a Cadillac, pulled into roughly the same spot Laura does. I didn't know what kind of car her husband drives, so I though perhaps that might be her. I couldn't see real well, because 1) the windows were kinda dark and 2) there was a small tree inbetween us, and I couldn't see real well through the branches. I figured it must be her, since nobody was getting in or out of the car, and it was just sitting there. So I picked up my briefcase and lunch and took a step down. Then i heard a small thump like something small hitting the ground. The car then backed up and drove off. And I noticed there was a little white plastic bag sitting next to the three garbage cans that were there previously.

As I wondered about this, Laura pulled up. I crossed the street and walked past the garbage. I checked out the new bag, and it was just what I thought, a small plastic store bag, filled with, what I assume to be trash. As we went to work then, my mind dwelt upon this.

Why would this guy, in a rather nice car, stop and throw out a small bag of trash? he couldn't wait until he got to work or home? What did he have to get rid of right away, right now? And why in a random place like that? And then I wished I had walked faster and gotten closer so he could see me. And I wished I could have asked him why he did it.

Oh well, whatever, I spend too much time on stuff that don't amount to a braincell in Bushie's head. If there one's there, though, its' gotta be lonely.

I was given the task of babysitting 6 plants this weekend. This means that I get to have TV for the weekend. This means that I have sat on my ass this entire afternoon watching MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEEN, quite possibly the most vapid television show known to man.Let me give you a brief synopsis: wealthy 15 year-olds (i'm talking grossly wealthy) have party planners and personal dressers put together their ultimate Sweet 16 birthday party. The last one that I watched cost $140,000. That's $20,000 more than my college education. Which I'll be paying off FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. Often they scream at the parents when they can't fit into a Betsey Johnson dress, bitch because the air conditioning is broken in the limo, and pout because no one is paying attention to them. It's like watching a car accident. Being rich must be AWESOME. Here's hoping I can afford my rent this month.

I detest that show, even the one where they had the cute guy turn 16 and have his party. And that one I watched muted, just for the eye candy. Man, I remember the good old days when MTV actually showed videos!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gay rights supporters cheered loudly from the gallery as California lawmakers became the first in the country to approve a bill allowing same-sex marriages. But their celebration may be short-lived.
The legislation could be vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has expressed an acceptance of gay marriages but said it’s an issue that should be decided by voters or the courts.

But wait, aren't the Republicans saying something like this should NOT be decided by the courts? Aren't the Congressional Republicans whining that the legislature NOT the courts should be deciding the issue gay marriage? Perhaps, in their opinion, the legislature SHOULD decide the issue...unless, of course, the legislature approves gay marriage, then, and ONLY then, should it be decided in the courts?

How can you deny the courts should settle this issue when the legislature is with you, but allow the courts to settle the issue when the legislature is against you? Is this not hypocracy in it's truest form? BUt more importantly, why do I express any surprise? This IS the national Republican Party we're talking about, after all.

Rescue me, I'm on the run like a refugee...

So, over the weekend, I was watching some of the coverage of the devastation from Katrina. I actually started crying, I felt so bad. I know I constantly bitch and moan and my credit card needing paid off (and it DOES), but I felt I had to do something. So, using my credit card, I made a small donation to the Red Cross here. I wish it could have been more, but at least I did something.

And then, Saturday, with the gracious help of my lil Aggie, we managed to go through my closet and check EVERY piece of clothing I own, and bag up all that I didn't need, couldn't wear, or wouldn't wear (although I DID keep her hideous purple bridesmaid's gown...never know when I might need that for Halloween, or a drag show or what have you), and got that ready to donate to the hurricane's victims. Below is the fruits of our efforts:

Now I just need to get it all down to the car and find a place to take it. 5 large garbage bags of clothes. Somebody down there can wear them...or use them as shelter, like tents for small children.

Last year, a local pastor sent video footage of sex acts being performed in front of police to the mayor, city council, and the media. City officials simply ignored the footage and continued to welcome and praise the weeklong celebration as being an "exciting event". However, Hurricane Katrina has put an end to the annual celebration of sin.

On the official "Southern Decadence" website (www.SouthernDecadence.com), it states that the annual event brought in "125,000 revelers" to New Orleans last year, increasing by thousands each year, and up from "over 50,000 revelers" in 1997. This year’s 34th annual "Southern Decadence" was set for Wednesday, August 31, 2005 through Monday, September 5, 2005, but due to massive flooding and the damage left by the hurricane, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has ordered everyone to evacuate the city. The past three mayors of New Orleans, including Sidney Barthelomew, Marc H. Morial, and C. Ray Nagin, issued official proclamations welcoming visitors to "Southern Decadence". Additionally, New Orleans City Council made other proclamations recognizing the annual homosexual celebration. "

Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city," stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. "From 'Girls Gone Wild' to 'Southern Decadence,' New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. From the devastation may a city full of righteousness emerge," he continued. New Orleans was also known for its Mardi Gras parties where thousands of drunken men would revel in the streets to exchange plastic jewelry for drunken women to expose their breasts and to engage in other sex acts. This annual event sparked the creation of the "Girls Gone Wild" video series.

Furthermore, Louisiana had a total of ten abortion clinics with half of them operating in New Orleans, where countless numbers of children were murdered at the hands of abortionists. Additionally, New Orleans has always been known as one of the "Murder Capitals of the World" with a rate ten times the national average.

"We must help and pray for those ravaged by this disaster, but let us not forget that the citizens of New Orleans tolerated and welcomed the wickedness in their city for so long," Marcavage said. "May this act of God cause us all to think about what we tolerate in our city limits, and bring us trembling before the throne of Almighty God," Marcavage concluded.

"[God] sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." (Matthew 5:45)

So, the fags, abortionists, and "Girls Gone Wild" are responsible for Hurricane Katrina. Jeez, who knew we had so much power? But if's God's gonna send a hurricane to wipe out a city because of the homosexuals, why not hit Key West? Too small? Rehobeth Delaware? Again too small? Oh hey, I got it, San Francisco! The bay there outta channel that storm surge right up all those steep hills and wipe that shameful queer scourge outta there! If I lived in San Francisco, I'd be packing up to move to like Utah, or Kansas, or Nebraska, a solid red state where good Christians reside and the homos know their place.

If this was God's punishment, well, what about the rest of Louisiana, and Gulfport and Biloxi Mississippi, and the Alabama coast...did they have a huge gay party going on their too? God would destroy all of the Gulf Coast for one city? Maybe, just maybe, God was out to get Trent Lott's palacial oceanside mansion, that was wiped off the map, and everything else is just residual damage. how do we know THAT'S not the case??

Geez, I knew this shit was gonna be said, but my God, they published this on Aug 31! It hadn't even stopped raining in New Orleans yet. Where's their Christian compassion now?

Time zone travelin, unravelin...

Yesterday, I checked the Site Meter site to see what stats I could find about visitors to the Palace. I found this graph:
Not only is the graph pretty damn cool lookin on its own, BUT, what it tells me is pretty cool too. It shows that most of my visitors come from the Eastern US, which is no surprise, but what is surprising is that only 70 % of my visits have come from there! I've got about 8 % coming from the US West Coast, 5% from the Central Time Zone, and about 1% from the Mountain zone. Again, nothing too exciting there. But that means that still only about 84% are from the US. What surprises me is that something like 6% comes from Central Europe, 4% from Western Europs, and like 2% from like West Australia/East China/Korea/Hong Kong/Micronesia, etc. In addition, I got 1% from India, theMiddle East, Eastern Europe, and, like Alaska.

The rantings of ole Uncle Polt have actually traveled the world over. Man, the Internet is a WONDEROUS thing, ain't it?

Regrets, I've had a few....

From Phoenix, we get the following comment:

I was one of the folks that answered "Yes, to my eternal regret". I was having one my silly moments that night and decided to enter something different...

Hmm, twould see your entire household, then, comprises all the "Yes, to my eternal regret" votes. That's good to know, that they're all in one place and not spread all over the Internet. More easy to extinguish when in one place. (smell that? That's sarcasm, son.)

Just wanted to mention to everyone that I think I'll keep my Blogpoll's going until I get 10 votes. That seems to be a nice round number. Once I reach 10, I'll announce the results, and put up a new one. SO, should you think some Blogpoll is stupid, your best bet would be to vote on it, so you can get rid of it quicker. And you can't go on when the knife feels like justice...

So, not to diminish or understate the tragedy ongoing in the Guld Coast, but the country suffered another tragedy this weekend: The death of Chief Justice Reinquist. Now let me state again, the suffering going on in Katrina's wake is huge, and immediate, and I'm not trying to downplay it. But the death of Reinquist, or more accurately, another opening on the Court, has the potential to be disasterous for this nation in other ways, and for a much longer period of time.

Reinquist's opening on the bench is not as...potentially detrimental as O'Conner, because he was already on the Court's right wing (although not as extreme as either Scalia or Thomas), and she was a middle of the roader. Bushie is unlikely to appoint anyone to replace either of them with someone who isn't a right winger, it's just a matter of degree. So replacing a right winger (Reinquist) with another right winger, isn't as momentous as replacing O'Conner with one.

But the bigger issue is that I don't beleive either Scalia or Thomas are over 60, and Roberts is only 50. So if Bushie picks another right winger, that means, the right wing of the Court will be relatively young and could, concieveably, have 30 years or so to fuck with and destroy all the rights the Constitution grants, that we fought hard to get, and that we now have, and are entitled to as American citizens. They could take away rights that everyone takes for granted.

It is truly a frightening proposition. And what's even scarier is that Stevens is over 90, Ginsburg has battled cancer while on the Court, and none of the moderate ones are spring chickens, so it's possible that Bushie could appoint one, two or even three more before he schlepts out of office.

And that thought keeps me awake at night.

Cruising every secret little part...

So, I was crusing around the Internet and I found some fun stuff I thought I'd pass along to you guys. Firstly, we have this site with funny comic books covers. Obviously it will appeal to those comic book readers amongst you the most, but anyone should be able to laugh at them anyway.

Next, we have the site of The Phat Three. They have any number of funny lists, but I found this one to be the funniest overall. Laughed out loud at a few of them, I did.

This one is really only for the straight female/gay male readers of the Palace, as it's got tons of hot guys, all free pics, and I THINK it's got some nudity too, perhaps, so I better throw up a warning about it! (see above)

Finally, we have another blogger, this one from Toronto. I've decided to check out his blog on a regular basis as well.

Papa don't preach...

Earlier this summer, the Domino's Pizza that had been in town for like 18 years, and where Uncle Polt got his first job ever delivering pizza's back during the end of the Reagan years, closed. It sat empty for a bit, and then they opened a Papa John's there less than a month ago.
I purposely stayed away, because I knew the guy who owned it is a local realtor in town, and in addition is a slimy underhanded sleazebag. He gets whatever he wants because he knows which hands in town to grease and how much greasing needs done. He is sleazier than a used car salesmen at a Yugo dealership. And for that reason alone, I had decided I would avoid it as much as possible.

Nonetheless, earlier this week, Phoenix and I, who were hanging out, decided we wanted something to eat, and so, I thought I'd give Papa John's a try. We called the order in an went to pick it up. We ordered a medium with pepperoni. It was around $11.80. When they handed me the box, I thought they had the wrong order. It was in a box that at Domino's would have only held a small pizza. And those were sold for $6.99. And it wsa indeed our order. I was NOT impressed with the price, and when we got it home, we both agreed we were not impressed with the taste either. There's another pizza place in town called Auturo's, they had a medium pizza that is actually medium sized, and I think is priced about $11.75. And it tastes better too.

But the kicker for me was, while I was waiting in line to get the pizza, I saw the Papa John logo int he store (which i've put above), and i recalled seeing in a magazine (probably Advocate or Out) that Papa John is a major contributor to anti-gay initiatives and groups. They'll call them pro-family issues...as if being pro-gay rights automatically means you're anti-faimly, which it does not. And who the hell would be anti-family anyway? I personally think it's very anti-family to kick your child out on the street and disown them, or send them to a brain washing "camp" just because they happen to have a sexual orientation different from your own. but then that's just me.

Getting back to the point of this post, I will in the future be avoiding PapaJohn's pizza from the local restaurant because of it's bad owner, it's bad prices, it's bad quality of food, and it's bad corporate practices. And i would urge all readers of the Palace to do so as well, although it's up to each individual to make up their own minds.

Do you know me personally personally?
Yes. 6 (60%)
Yes, to my eternal regret. 2 (20%
No. 1 (10%)
No, to my eternal regret. 1 (10%)
total votes: 10

Can't say I'm surprised at the results, I figured most people who voted would know me personally....although I do wonder about the two Yes, to my eterenal regret votes. hmmm...

Don't wanna be an American idiot...

Perhaps surprisingly, this is NOT a post about Bushie. No, it relates to the humor quiz I took last week where I was the Idiot Savant (thus the connection to today's first post). It seems Phoenix and the Fairy Godfather (thus the connection to today's second post) both took it and these were the results:

Phoenix:the Ham(28% dark, 46% spontaneous, 26% vulgar)your humor style:CLEAN SPONTANEOUS LIGHTYour style's goofy, innocent and feel-good. Perfect for parties and for the dads who chaperone them. You can actually get away with corny jokes, and I bet your sense of humor is a guilty pleasure for your friends. People of your type are often the most approachable and popular people in their circle. Your simple & silly good-naturedness is immediately recognizable, and it sets you apart in this sarcastic world.PEOPLE LIKE YOU: Will Ferrell - Will Smith

Mark: the Idiot Savant(42% dark, 65% spontaneous, 42% vulgar)your humor style:VULGAR SPONTANEOUS LIGHTHmmmm. I'm sure glad these aren't my chest/waist/hip measurements.Who do I know like this? Hmmmm. Let me think.......

Phoenix said he wasn't sure about the results, and frankly, no that doesn't sound like his sense of humor (well, it IS Clean and Light...but Spontaneous? nah.) "perfect for parties", "corny jokes", "Silly "....nah, those are not adjectives I would use to describe Phoenix's sense of humor. I fear the quiz was wrong with him.

And then I read Mark's and see that he's got the same style of humor as me??????? what is up with THAT??? Did we even take the same test. I'm not certain you can GET more opposite in styles of Humor than his and mine. Frankly, I always assumed that's we got along so well, was that our senses of humor were like polar opposites. I don't think Mark would disagree with that. So the quiz messed up there too. But it was right on the head (or so I thought) with me.

Maybe I put too much stock in these internet quizzes. This made me laugh at any rate (glad those aren't my measurement....heheehehe...)

I'd note regarding Bush's refusal to ever ask for sacrifice, that his response to the current gas crisis was to tell people "Don't buy gas unless you need it." God, what a moron. How New Orleans was Lost: Another Terrible Casualty of the Iraq War
From an article by Paul Craig Roberts on CounterPunch:

Chalk up the city of New Orleans as a cost of Bush's Iraq war. There were not enough helicopters to repair the breeched levees and rescue people trapped by rising water. Nor are there enough Louisiana National Guards available to help with rescue efforts and to patrol against looting... The National Guard and helicopters are off on a fools mission in Iraq...Now the Guardsmen, trapped in the Iraqi quagmire, are watching on TV the families they left behind trapped by rising waters and wondering if the floating bodies are family members. None know where their dislocated families are, but, shades of Fallujah, they do see their destroyed homes...Why can't the US government focus on America's needs and leave other countries alone? Why are American troops in Iraq instead of protecting our own borders from a mass invasion by illegal immigrants? Why are American helicopters blowing up Iraqi homes instead of saving American homes in New Orleans?...All Bush has achieved by invading Iraq is to kill and wound thousands of people while destroying America's reputation. The only beneficiaries are oil companies capitalizing on a good excuse to jack up the price of gasoline and Osama bin Laden's recruitment. What we have is a Republican war for oil company profits while New Orleans sinks beneath the waters.

Got a strange ritual, it's wearing me down...

So, this is my morning ritual:

There is 7 pills there, yes indeed, but one of them is an antibiotic for a sinus infection, so that one will pass, but the others, yep, every morning. And then, in the evening I have to take 4 of them again (one being the antibiotic). With all this, you think I'd just give in, gather some motivation and lose some damn weight.

The hang out gang is back in town...

SO, this morning, when I woke up, I could see it was gonna be a beautiful day...and I just could NOT face work under those circumstances. SO i called in and took the day off. Then i went back to sleep for a bit. I got up later and read some, and watched some TV and stuff, not doing too much at all. I was supposed to go meet my friend Garver after work, but since i wasn't AT work, I went to pick him up when he got off work, and we went back to his place. A bit later, his friend, Troy showed up, and the three of us ate pizza, talked, watched some TV, hung out, and I just had a great time doing absolutely nothing. And doing absolutely nothing in the presense of two hot cuties only made it all the more fun.

So some would call today a waste, and I guess it was in some ways, but a day doing nothing and relaxing (especially among hot cuties) is not a waste, but a recharge.
