You've made some wedding plans, i'm comin' home...

The wedding.

It went rather well. Oh, it was freaking HOT in those tuxs in the stuffy church. And it was hot at the reception hall when we were eating hot food in a stuff room. And the other usher and I had problems with the runner...damn thing, I told him we would. Oh, and I wanted Mom to take photos during the wedding itself, but since I forgot to give my camera to her, it spent the wedding in my pants pocket.

But on the upside, I didn't trip at any time, nor smear anything on the tux, nor move to fast for the old ladies I was ushering. Also, I did a shot of Hennessey (!) with the groom and usher, got to dress a rather cute 15 year old cause he had never worn a tux before (and I was a perfect gentleman the entire time!), was responsible for a 5 year old ringbearer in a tux, was almost talked into "getting my Michael Jackson" on at the reception with the groom and the 15 year old but I didn't have enough Hennessey to make an ass of myself like that, had a delicious meal of ham, roast beef, stuffed chicken breast, scalloped potatos, mashed potatos and corn, got to meet the groom's family, got to the bride's mother again who doesn't live around here now but we always crack each other up...always have. Oh and best of all, got to be an usher and watch my cousin marry a great guy!

And some photos:

While I was getting dressed, Tereek, the 5 year old, wanted to take some photos, so I let him use my camera to do so. This is the one he got of me.

DeQuin, the groom's 15 year old son. The one I practially dressed myself. And who did a pretty damn good Michael Jackson impersonation at the reception. Was quite nervous about his toast (which he didn't even know he had to do until the night before) but he did so well, he got a round of applause.

Three year old Javey, in some of his tux, and Tereek, in all of his, peering out the window looking for their mother.

Tereek, who I practically dressed myself as well. I left the younger one for Quinton, the groom. I did straighten his tie and vest out before letting him out of the room.

Me, not looking anywhere near as bad as I thought I would in a cream tux.

This photo is chock FULL of relatives! I see an uncle, three aunts, the photographer, the church organist, three of my cousins, another cousin's husband, a cousin's future husband, and a cousin's daughter. And that's not all of the relatives that were there!

While taking the wedding photos, Javey became restless, so I gave him my camera. This is one of several photos he took, this one being of the bride's mother's partner, Diane.

The not-so-blushing bride, my cousin Jaime.

Mama Polt, who by the way, MADE the bride's gown, as well as all three bridesmaid's gowns. Yeah, Mama Polt DOES indeed rock.

The bride's father, step-mother and my grandmother, gossiping about something no doubt.

At the reception, my lil cousin Cam, with his grandfather. I didn't see or hear him right away, but I was told from the time we were introduced and I escorted my escort in the reception to the table, Cam stood on his chair and waved at me and kept saying "Chris! That's Chris!" over and over. Finally, after I was seated, but before the bride and groom actually entered, my cousin got my attention and pointed him out to me. And when I waved back, he got a smile brighter than all the candles there and waved back. It's like a was a celebrity. Oh, the innocence, cuteness, and love of a child.

Bride and groom on their first dance. It's blurry cause it was taken from far away, not because I had too much Hennessey.

My 11 year old cousin Corey, not knowing what was going on, dove for the garter, and got it. They didn't make him put it on the girl's leg. He carried it around the rest of the day. he even wore it as a headband. I promised him, at his wedding, I'd have this blown up to poster size or larger and put on the walls. the threat was lost on him....but I'll DO it!

And so, nine hours after it started, it was over, with the bride and groom on their was to the hotel at the airport so they could catch their 6am flight this morning for Key West and the honeymoon.

Polt - you are looking very dapper in your tux.

I love the pic of the boys looking out the window. Little boys in tuxes are adorable.

Mama Polt made that dress? I'm impressed! I'm glad she's not competing in Project Runway : ).

And, yum.... mashed potatoes...
