(Ironically enough, the first time was my freshman year of college, the Fall of 1986; the second time was right after I moved into my apartment, the Fall of 1996; and the third time was the Fall of 2006. New Jersey recognizes civil unions to gays and lesbians, joining Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, and California in some sort of recognition of thier relationships.
