Fly me down to capitol city in the sun...

Well, it's been a week since I put up the last 4 Truths and 1 Lie. I had a total of 5 guesses. Let's go over the choices:

1. I've been in the White House while the president was there, but didn't meet him.
2. I've been in the Captiol while the Congress was in session, but I didn't get into either house.
3. I've been in the Supreme Court while the court heard a case.
4. I've been to the top of the Washington Monument.
5. I've sung at the Kennedy Center with a school group.

The guesses were:
1. No one
2. Ed, Exile, Lady Xandria
3. Mad Lizard
4. Freddie
5. No one

Let's go over the choices in reverse order.

5. When i was in 6th grade I sung with the chorus (they took everybody). We took a field trip to DC, and one place we visited was the Kennedy Center. They have a rooftop balcony there, with a small restaurant or something set up, and people walking all around. Were were lined up in a corner, all two dozen of us, and the teacher had us sing a few songs. It technically wasn't IN Kennedy Center, but we were AT Kennedy Center.

4. When I was younger I did indeed go to the top of the Washington Monument with my mom. We rode the elevator up. All I remember is that the windows were very VERY small and it was cramped up there. My well known fear of heights didn't bother me, since we were inside the whole time.

3. In college, my Constitutional Law class went as a group to DC, our professor had gotten tickets for each of us and we got sit in the gallery while the Court heard a case. I have no idea what it was about, certainly nothing exciting. But it was exciting for me, as a ConLaw fan, to see O'Conner, Blackmun, and Marshall in person.

2. In 1990, a friend of mine and I went to DC. We went to the Capitol, through the metal detectors and whatever else paltry security they had at the time, and then just wandered about unescorted. We did get to see Senator Bob Dole down a long, and cordoned off hallway, but we never made into either house of Congress.

1. For a Presidential scholar such as myself, it may come as a bit of a surprise, but I have never been inside the White House. I dont know why, jsut hasn't happened. With the security they have in place now, I'm doubtful if I ever will get inside.

But obviously, number 1 was the lie, and no one guessed it. better luck next time!

POLT

Yesterday, the White House unveiled a plan to deal with terrorist attacks on Election Day. It's part of a program where the President, under certain circumstances, could declare himself Caesar. - Jon Stewart, 2004

I have yet to get one of these things right. I've never been to he White House either. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I've NEVER been out of the Midwest?
