Its that time once more, time for...
I live in a small town, maybe 9,000 people. There is, between Main Street and Second Street a street. An alley really. And would the people of my town think to call it First Street? Oh, no, that would make too much sense. Perhaps they didn't because, as I've mentioned, it's not much more than an alley.
It starts at Virginia Ave. and runs from East to West by passing between the new CVS and a fire substation, then continues behind the McDonalds and Pizza Hut. after this, there is an area where a few homes are localed, relatively new, prefabricated small type of homes. Then it passes through the parking lot that bordered by the old CVS building, the Post Office and a Sheetz. It next runs past the local newspaper, a storage facility and all the while, give a delightful view of the backs of the Main Street buildings, crumbling, fire escapes, grime and all. It then passes behind the Eagle's Club, behind a bank, and then a dry-cleaner, all the while showing more of the buildings back. It opens up into the large parking lot used to house the town carnival over the summer and then continues next past the local homeless shelter...if it's still open. It next passes between a bar and a burned out church before reaching a more residential area of town and jsut has backyard abutting it until, about 4 blocks later, it ends at Grant Street.
It's basically....a dull, borning, banal, unadorned alleyway. And yet, they've named it Gay Street.
What's strange is that there is very little, if indeed anything, about this street that is happy, festive OR gay. Perhaps I should move there. Where ever I'm livin is GONNA be a Gay Street, baby!
incidently, I managed to get this in one shot...am I not a marvel with the camera!)

It is the perfect name for this street. Think about it. It's a Back alley. LOL.
It is sad that a Gay street have nothing happy or gay happening in it... you should change that... ;-)
