Afraid to make the change, scared to leave the past behind...

I used to listen, on both the way to work and the way home, to the far right wingnuts on Talk Radio. Oh, the chuckles I'd have at Glenny "I'm not a populist, I said this before it was popular!" Beck, Rush Limbergercheese, Laura "Screeching Harpy" Ingraham, and the idiot who's name is just as idiotic as he is, Mancow.

But lately, well for the last few weeks or so, it's just not fun anymore. Oh sure, they still say the idiotic stuff that only they could say. But basically since Obama's inaugural, all I hear from them is....anger, doom-&-gloom, the-sky-is-falling, negativism, pessimistic, ranting and raving. And frankly, it was putting me in bad mood. It's like their bad mood, their gloominess. their cynical fatalism, their morose dismal meloncholy, was just making me that same way too. (Christ just typing the descriptions made me despressed) I felt...down. Not because of WHAT they were saying, no, that I could ignore. But the manner in which they said it, the incessent foreboding despair was just too much.

And regular radio has too many crappy songs and commericals. So, when I'm not listening to my iPod, I found a very nice Classical Music station out of Baltimore. I've been listening to Beethover, Brahms, Bach, and a whole horde of other people that have been dead for centuries that i never heard of. But at least their music is soothing and relaxing. And when I get to where I'm going, I don't feel all tightly wound.

In fact, it's such a pleasant change, I'd recommend the change to ANYone who listens to that drivel on a regular basis. I bet if you turn the station away from their muck, you'll feel much better. (are you listening, Susan?)

I don't listen to radio anymore. Why bother when I can get podcasts like KBCS City Soul (http://www.kbcs.fm) or the many other musical podcasts I get.

And my usage is mostly ear/head phones so it works for me.

I do have a liking of Italian opera, just downloads Bocelli and Pavarotti doing Nessun Dorma. Beautiful song.
