Dynamic duo, batman and robin, whoever don't like it...

This week the first issue of Batman And Robin came out. This is it's cover.

Frankly, I'm loving this title after only one issue. It's written by the legendary Grant Morrison and the awesome Frank Quitely. So it's got a great look to it.

But better than that: Batman is Dick Grayson, the original Robin. And Robin is Damien, Bruce Wayne's son to Ra's Al Ghul's daughter Talia. (If you eyes have glazed over already, I'm sorry. But people that read the comics know what I'm talking about)

It's quite a refreshing read. Batman is played as a more happy-go-lucky character, as Dick Grayson always was, and Robin is the grim determined fighter. It's a flip flop of the regular character personas. Damien comes off as rude, pissed off at the world, and overall, arrogant. But that's always been his personality.

There's no villians introduced, and you know if Morrison is writing it, they're freaky in the extreme, which is as Batman villians should be. Oh, and the new Batmobile? It flies and hovers. Sweet.

I really can't say enough about this book. If you're Batman fan but haven't picked it up (*cough*Craiggers*cough*) I urge you to find your local comic book store and do so. You will not be disappointed. And I truly hope the rest of the series continutes to be at the same level as the first issue.

I totally agree! Great first issue, strong writing and I LOVE the art.

I was a little worried about the new BATMAN & ROBIN after FINAL CRISIS. I still don't quite know what the Hell happened in that series.

Thankfully, Morrison went back to telling the story in clear, well-paced beats and really communicating with his readers in the first issue of BATMAN & ROBIN. I couldn't take another non-linear, OxyContin-induced hallucination like FINAL CRISIS.

Have you been picking up THE SECRET SIX? Gail Simone's writing is friggin' genius!

Is Robin a midget? He's up to Batman's armpit. His head is so round and he's so small. Glad you are enjoying it.

Tam: *SIGH* Robin is an 11 or 12
year old boy.

Oh. Okay then. My mistake. He still looks pretty tough for an 11 year old.

he is pretty tough...son of Batman, grandson of Ra's Al Ghul, raised amongst the League of Assassins.
