To defy the laws of tradition, is a crusade...

I read this online, and I didn't save where I read it at and now I can't find it, but it made a very good point, so I'm paraphrasing everything here.

It seems that an Ohio legislator has introduced a bill stating that if two Republicans are married, they not be allowed to adopt children. He said he believes that Republicans are unfit to raise children, as they will instill in the children their narrow-minded, backward thinking biases, and do harm to the child. And he admitted there was no scientific data to back up any of the things he's said.

And, he added, there's no scientific data to back up the statements that a gay or lesbian couple are unfit to adopt children, or that they will do "harm" to an adopted child.

He doesn't believe his bill will get many, if indeed any, votes. And that's as it should be. But people who vote against his bill, cannot turn around then and vote for the bill outlawing gay and lesbian couples adopting kids. Or if they do, it will reveal them to be the hypocrites they obviously are.

It's surprising to me how many of the religious radical, conservative Christian right wingnuts think it would be better for kids to remain on state orpahnages or passed from foster home to foster home instead of adopted into a loving home with two parents. And those that do, tell me, what do they have as thier main concern: the kids or a political agenda?
