I attended a rather dour Catholic elementary school. We didn't do songs.
That waited for my first Spanish class in high school. Guantanamera and La Cuckaracha! Thank you Brother Gregory for keeping those stuck in my head for nearly 30 years.
I went to Catholic school too, but we did sing songs (but we didn't write them). I know all the words to most of the songs in Grease because of it.
